I see one of the old 78 Freightliner COE's, blue, white with the black and gold stripes in Miami all the time. Sometimes see some of the 91 KW anteaters.

I was looking for old contact info for a job application (even though it won't do them any good) and I saw your post. My husband (Keith) and I (Myra) drove for you from 1988-1993. As a matter of fact, you gave me my test drive for employment! Hope life's treating you well.

epes bought out anderson-webb bout same time as thomas,..an burton transport too,burton specilized in haulin tobacco,..an epes still has a seasonal tabacco devision my great uncle is leased too,..been years since ive seen a baby blue 9000 ford cabover!!

Hi folks, wondering if there were any alumni of the old Thomas Produce, later Thomas Transport when Epes Carriers purchaced them?

I was a west coast driver from 1981 to 1985, then moved into personnel, then safety, then driver recruiting. Then moved over to the Carolina Training Center truck driver training school that Epeps owned for a while. I left there in 1995 when the director rightly said, "Jack, you are miserable, you are making other folks miserable, and you don't have sense enough to quit on your own, so I am doing it for you!" (I thanked him later for that!)

I went by the handle of 'Super-Snatcher' while there, after John Hart retired I took his handle 'Jack-of-Hearts' and have used it since. (Some folks read a little trash into Super-Snatch', however I got it from Ray Harris' old crane type wrecker called Super-Snatcher.) I like the name and used it for a handle.

Hello Folks,

I drove for the Thomas Brothers for a few years starting in 1976. I ran between Greensboro, NC and the Philadelphia Produce market and sometimes up the Bronx Farmers market. Drove an old 1960's model IH Emeryville at that time. I hauled West Coast loads up North for delivery. I would then have pickups around the Northeast to bring back to Greensboro. Usually cabbage New York upstate, sweetcorn from Vineland, NJ, some taters off Long Island and apples as well from Orchards in Pa. After the Emeryville died I was switched to an old Brockway #9 at the time. Started running the West Coast in that thing until they finally started buying the cabover freight shakers. I got one of those with the VT 903 Cummins in it. I and a buddy made a few adjustments so it would lay down and fly. Kept ole Mike in the shop fooled for the entire time.

I stuck around for a few more years running the Pacific Northwest hauling cigarettes out and produce back. California did not like me and politely asked me to leave their state and not bother to return. You guessed it the Banning Inspection Station. They did not like my straight six inch stakes and missing muffler assembly. Got even more upset about the black smoke coming out them pipes due to how the fuel was burnt and lack of regulation size fuel return lines that were really tiny on the inside. I enjoyed the Northwest running and ran a lot by myself turning in the same time frame as the Teams trucks did. Love them good ole days on the road.

I miss ole Jaybird, The Senator and especially Joe Yow.
