Another very cool red truck. I've sent photos of this truck to a few of you recently, but I know you will be on your best behavior !

I know what it is, and who the owner is. The only clue I am giving is that involves 3 differant truck manufactures. A VERY RARE truck.

Everyone seems to know what this very rare truck is, with Bill White leading the way. This 1943 Kenworth Model 572 Class 155 crash truck is equipped with Mack built fire apparatus. If the front of this truck looks familiar, it is the same chassis KW used for the M1 wrecker, right down to the "tree buster" front bumper. It is powered by the same Continental 501ci 22R 6 cylinder engine. At the rear of the truck, a second Continental engine was used to power the high pressure fogging system, this one a bigger R602 6 cylinder. Only 100 of these KW crash trucks were built during the war; subsequent Class 155 crash trucks were built on 6 ton Brockway, FWD, or Ward LaFrance B666 chassis, the standard 6 ton 6x6 built during the War. These subsequent crash trucks had apparatus by Mack or American LaFrance. All the KW's had Mack apparatus. There are only 2 of these KW trucks known to exist, with this amazingly well preserved survivor recently saved by John Kottke, who occasionally visits this site. Thanks very much to John for these photos. That's John's 1943 Ward LaFrance M1A1 wrecker in the last photo, which has basically the same chassis as the KW.

more info..

It looks like Mack built the bodies on the first 100 KW's (the M1 chassis) as well as the subsequent Brockway chassis, but American LaFrance only put their bodies (and engines) on the Brockway chassis.

I don't see any mention of a American LaFrance chassis there.
