I have a 1947 Kenworth. i am trying to find a serial/vin number. The plate in the cab is gone and I have looked in lots of places that were recommended by friends and internet searches. Does anyone know how many digits I need to be looking for? I have found a four-digit number on the right front rail on the upper flange. It is 8621 and have been told that is not enough. any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Gary

Gary from what I've found there are potentially 4 locations for the vin . 1st is on the dash on passenger side. 2nd is on the driver's side firewall in the engine compartment. 3rd is on the passenger front frame rail in front of the firewall. 4th is on the top front edge of the hood.. Early model trucks like yours may only have 4-5 digits . My 56KW vin/serial number is only 5 digits.
