Insulating the Cab

Interesting, I am curious to see how this works for you as I plan to do the same thing with my 64 Pacific.  Water resistance looks like it will be good with this setup, the previous fibreglass matting used on on all covered areas of the cab was nice and warm but it held a lot of water, which ruined the back of my cab.

I did almost the same on my H67, but I added Hushmat first.

It looks good.  What did you use as an adhesive for the roof insulation?  Mike

  I just finished insulating the cab and floor of the LT. In the walls and roof, I enlisted my brother to glue in 2 layers of foil backed radiant barrier insulation, and then installed the new headliner. On the floor, one layer of foil backed insulation provides heat reflection under a 5/8 sheet of felt carpet backing for noise attenuation. For a floormat, I used some leftover 'carpet runner' from  Home Depot. The carpet runner is only 29" wide but a strip of industrial strength duct tape on the back side of the seam holds the pieces together well enough that the seam is invisible. The temp is forecast to be triple digits tomorrow, so when I run into Reno to put the new hood on, I guess I'll be finding out how well all of this works.

I glued the insulation to the cab walls and roof with a polyurethane construction adhesive called PL400 (available at Home Depot). Fast setting and it adheres well to the metal cab skin. I glued one layer of radiant barrier insulation to the cab, and the second layer to the first. For the floor, I held it down with duct tape.
