Inspired by Kevin's "Other Trucks" posting, here is a truck under the wing of a very large aircraft. Name the truck and, for extra credit, the airplane. The emblem on the truck has been obscured in the closeup. This photo is from Pat MacPhail.

The truck,my guess, is a Sicard, not up on planes, but looks like some sort of flying boat.

Wrong it is a Coleman with a pre 48 Ford crew cab. The flying boat is built by Boeing, probably an old Pan American Clipper

I agree with Michelle, a Coleman. The plane may be Boeing, but I think it is a later Martin Mars.

Don't know about the truck, but the plane is a Martin Mars, probably operated by Flying Tankers, Inc., considering the colors.
I seen a story on them on History or Discovery or some such channel, I believe they said only two of the planes survive.
T.
I found the below photo, if you look closely below the tail of the aircraft it appears to be the same truck repainted in blue & white.

I don't have a clue what kind of truck that is, but I'd like to know what is it used for? Is is a tug for pulling aircraft around, or is it a snow plow with the plow removed for the summer? I like those tires!

The big round hubs look correct for a 1920's Coleman

Mars aircraft, I believe 2 of the three are still around.
Federal aircraft tug, two '47 to '54 cabs correctly stated before were used. There is one nearby if you are interested, not mine.

Coleman. According to my information the first one was built in 1949 It also states the cabs were Coleman but used doors from Ford. The bottom of the windshield lines up differently than on a Ford. The dash is also different on the one I've seen. It was too expensive to produce their own cabs so Coleman switched to GM cabs by 1951
Ed, I would like to see the one near you.

Once again lots of interesting answers here. Brian was right about the make of the truck but wrong about the cab, Michelle was right about the cab but wrong about the plane, and Bill Donnelly was right about the truck and plane (I think). Whew !
Federal did build a very similar model to this, but this is a 1949 Coleman CF-55-AF aircraft tug. Ford parts were used in the cab. There was a later version which did use the early '50's GM cab. These scans from Fred Crismon's "US Military Wheeled Vehicles" tell the whole story.
Thanks to Chuck P for the Website on the Martin Mars. Designed to be huge wartime transports, these magnificent aircraft were introduced too late help in the war effort, but have had a much more significant role in civilian life. What a great story.
