I posted in the Road kill forum that I have a 1241-C Aux, only problem is the case is cracked at the rear mounting bolts. IIRC Scott or some one said that they knew of a way to fix that and also a better way to mount them in Chassis. I have the cross member mounting brackets for the front and rear, but the case is broken at the bolt holes, can this be fixed, or will I need to find a new case?, sorry I dont have a pic tranny is up at the sawmill, and I wont be up there for a while thanks........Doug

| Doug, This is a common problem with the 1241's. We would fab a plate that would match the holes in the rear of the case and bracket from the cross member to the plate. Remember that the front mount lets the gear box twist so the rear bracket must hold all the torque on the tranny--which is considerable in some situations. Keep the mounting brackets spaced as far apart from the centerline as possible. Dean

| Doug, I fixed a few of them, and the one I put in my service truck. I fabbed a "horseshoe" out of 1/2 flat plate to go on top of the trans top cover. Horseshoe was to go around top cover and cut out for the shift tower cast into the lid. It took in part of the side bolts and the rear- covering up the broken mounting stud holes. I used Cat 3406 short exhaust manifold spacers, the one under the turbo, 3/8 ID. this raised it enough to put new mounting bolts 3/4 dia, up thru the bottom of the fabbed plate to act like studs. I tacked welded them to the plate and then made two 1/2 flat plates, 3/4 hole maybe 3"X3" for mounting pads. This lowered the back of the trans 1/2" maybe? No driveline probs. Sorry no pics of them, they were always a hurry up/brokedown affair. might be able to get a "sorta" pic of it in my service truck, hard to get to with box over it but I could try. Love those tranny's, got mine for free because case was broken ar the mounting holes-bummer. Scott

Thanks Scott, a pic would be great, but I know how hard it is to get to so dont worry about it. I have a pretty good idea of how you went about it so I might be able to duplicate what you did The one I have is a freebee also, for same reason as yours LOL, wanted to buy one a few years back for my KW, $1,500 used with core, $2,000 without core, not including crossmembers, brackets, shifter and linkage!!!! Was thrilled when I came across this one even though the owner thought it was junk! ......Doug
