| We have been doing the WAI for over 2-1/2 years now, and today we have reached a milestone of sorts: Not including an occasional re-run, this is the 1000th WAI, starting on the old site. I ran into a fellow in Huntsville who told me he thought this would last a few months or so before we ran out of photos. My own thoughts weren't too far off that. But while the 1st few hundred photos came almost entirely from my own files, now nearly all the trucks we run are photos that all of you have emailed me. Thanks to all of you for making the WAI a fun place to visit, and from keeping me from running out of photos ! For this special occasion, today's WAI is a little different. This photo has appeared in several publications, including Hemmings, but has never been positively identified. I'm quite certain this is a shop built truck, and it is probably impossible to determine the chassis. But I've got a good idea where most of the sheet metal came from. Take your best shot, and maybe we will all learn something. This photo was sent to me by Leroy Gurganus and Brocky. The "answer" to this will probably be posted sometime Sunday morning, as Saturday night I will be on the runway for the shuttle launch at 0439 am. Go Endeavour !

Congrats on 1,000!!! Can't wait for the next 1000. I wish we could join you Sunday AM,but we WILL see it go up from here. Slavedrivers won't give us the day off. As to the truck,my thinking is Studebaker for the sheetmetal, chassis could be a heavier make, such as Diamond T,or Kenworth.

This nice kid should have a Ford mother & a Brockway father. Jeff, congratulations for the 1000th - Can we have an appointment for the next milestone?

That is a great looking MUTT,,,makes you very aware of what you look for when playing this game. looks like a Ford cab, but the cowl lowers are not Ford, the wheels look GMC, fenders are probably from a car,,,,v e r y i n t e r e s t i n g ,,,,,, oh,,,maybe a MACK rad shell? Did Frank make this? CONGRATULATIONS to us on the milestone,,,,and BIG THANKS to JEFF
Progress may have been all right once, but it has gone on too long.

| Awesome job Jeff! This is great fun - may it go on and on. Thank you for hosting this fun place - and I've learned a great deal from everyone here. Back to the puzzle at hand. At first I was thinking Dodge because of the forward slant to the cowl and the horizontal hood side bars. But I think it is a Ford cab as several folks have mentioned, but if so it has been modified at the front end. The cowl vent at the side doesn't belong as was pointed out. The fenders look like 1933 or thereabouts Pierce Arrow (automobile). The grille looks familiar - ? - I was thinking early 30's Buick or Chrysler but I don't think I have it. I don't see any clues on the chassis that look meaningful to me. Possibly one could identify the hubs to an axle manufacturer (Timken Detroit I'd say) but that doesn't narrow down the chassis too much. I'll say it's not a Mack! Once again - great job Jeff!
