The first winter I drove I spent running Phoenix to Las Vegas. The dam was always the highlight. 93 all the way, in a 73 K100 KW, 350 Cummins, 13 speed topped out at about 83 MPH. Hauling balls, Wilson tennis balls. LOL The good memories!

The dam on google maps

John, when I was flat bedding I had a dedicated run hauling concrete beams from Phoenix to Vegas 10' wide and 60' long. We had to use stretch trailers it was drop and hook dead head back to Phoenix. When it was time to spec new trucks, they decided to order the new at the time "flat floor raised roof" Internationals with extra long wheel base, they orderd 7 of these, and I got one of the first. I really liked the truck, it had more room than our apartment (at least thats how it seemed lol) The only bad thing was we could run AZ at night with 10' wide but not Nevada, so we would time it to where we got to Hoover dam just about midnight, and the dam cops (POLICE) would let us go across and park at the 1st casino and wait for daybreak. We would get on the CB and let traffic know there were several oversize loads comming across, usually 4 of us, any way one night just as we started up the Nevada side a Woman in new long hood Pete with a load of sheetrock was on her way down with the radio off, or turned down and rounded a curve that one of our trucks was already half way around. With the long wheel base we could load the 60' beams on a regular 48' spread, but then you had a front overhang of about 6'. As you can imagine the beam was sticking way out in the oncomming lane and proceded to rip the driverside of the new Pete to shreads. After that we had to go the long way through Searchlight (the way you have to go now) it made things tuff as we round tripped 5 loads a week, leave Sun night get home about noon Fri, had to do some "creative logging" LOL!..........Doug

If everyone did everything for practical reasons, life sure would be boring. Just my $.02. That being said I think he went a little overboard. 250" would have been just right. To each their own.

JOHN C   YUP, you are getting old.

Life  is like a roll of toilet paper --the closer  you get to the end, the faster it goes!  Enjoy each day.

That cabover would look awesome with a 205" wb.I must be getting old.I dont understand what it is about all that extra frame rail thats supposed to make it look cool.Ive tried to think about it from all different angles and put myself in their shoes, but I just dont get it, at all.Just looks weak and spindly, like its ready to twist in the middle.I like my trucks short and tough, same way I like my women, lol.John

I'm with you.

If it doesn't have two sticks, you might as well drive an automatic
