Hi,

I've found a industrial big cam 400. Is it possible to use the air compressor from my nt270 because the big cam doesn't have one.

Is the industrial fuel pump usable for road use? Is it possible to put the nt270 pump on the big cam. The 270 is an old NH type.

I'm looking to put a bc400 in my '59 kw 985.

Gr EJ

EJ,

This thread may provide some hints (it's about the 420, but that I understand was an industrial unit also):

Here are 2 engines which got my interest. I think the one with waterpump is a small cam, but with hi hp

I was hoping that Glenn would have eased in here allready, but I'll stab it. It depends what it has at the acc drive position now, because it may make a difference of what type of acc drive adapter you may need for a compressor, and the 270 pump won't do the job with out a complete overhaul and you really need the style of pump that is for that particular motor.

I can't get anymore out of it, I've got both sticks hot clear up to the knobs allready.

On the air compressor if it is the one that uses the acc drive that is about 4" long or from block back to air compressor then the compressor will work weather it is cummins or BW. The cummins and BW will bolt to same acc drive. The length is some different so that makes the fuel lines to the head from the fuel pump too shor or long.If the acc drive is the one with crank shaft made on it for the air compressor then it will not work. But dought it will have that drive. All so the acc drive for the NTA is a larger in diameter at the bushing end were it goes thru the front cover. I never knew why but all i was in took a different front cover and seal and pulley as well as acc drive but the compressor coupler and drive gear will be same. The fuel pump will be different because of springs and calubration and the fuel pumpis a larger GPM out put for the NTA than the NTC pump uses. I am talking about the gear size in the gear pump. They may look same but are larger in length of gear.

Both of those engines are Big Cam.From what I can see. The one that is dirty seems to be a big cam III

someday we'll get it going
