A few months back I posted looking for help with replacements for the sagging and sad looking original springs on my '73 K123. Thanks to everyone's help like Arron, Tony Martin, and others, I was able to track down a set of tapered-leaf replacements at my local Franklin Truck Supply for a reasonable $367.00 a side. My truck was originally spec'd with 12,600 lb. multi-leaf stacks but it turns out these 3-leaf tapered versions would have been available on the truck new so that's good with me. At a more reasonable 10,600 lbs. these will do me fine for just bouncing around to shows and such. Just driving the truck home from the shop the ride seems quite transformed, the suspension actually seems to be moving now! Here are a few pics of the old and new springs. Thanks again to everyone who chimed in with help! One more thing to cross off my list...

Cheers,
David

David,

Glad to hear you liked the differance.Remember, even though youre not working it, keep the pins and shackles well greased so they dont sieze.Jack it when you grease it, doesnt take alot of extra time, but it makes a differance.John

Dan, yeah it's great how they painted the bottom half of the engine when the frame was primed. No worries, I'll be stripping that soon enough and painting the engine the proper shade of green...not that the oil leaks are too hard to find as it is!

John, thanks for your advice on the greasing. The pins were all fairly new and looked good so we kept them and everything was greased up during assembly. I doubt the old springs were even doing anything at all.

Tony I'll post some more pics as soon as I start making progress on the side panel and floor replacement.

Cheers,
David
