Rick, I'm sorry, I missed this, too.
I wish you all the best for surgery and recovery.

Hey Rick, all in all it is not that big of a deal, I broke my back in a helicopter crash in 2000, completely disentigrated L1, now I have rods from T10 to L3 and a plate from T10 to L2, if I did not have a spinal cord injury which makes me unable to push down with my toes and a few other spinal cord injury symptons, I would be fine, no back pain, and not much discomfort. I was paralyzed from the waist down and had to learn to walk again, lived in a rehab hospital for 6 months, more therapy for a year, but you won't have to deal with that. I would seriously consider having the rods removed once everything has stabilized though, if the doctor says that is an option. They are under the muscle and it always feels like you are sitting against a knotted rope. I did not have it done and I wished I would have. The recovery is not real bad, you wake up lying on your back, to keep the swelling down, a bit of pain but that is what the little button is for, and you should already know about that by now , hope all is going well. Be sure and question the doctor about having the rods removed, I would like to hear his answer as well.

| Rick, Sorry you have to have surgery. I pray it will go well and return you to good health, and enable you to play with White trucks for many years.

Sorry you have to go thru this Rick. I had the same ones fused in '01 and they went thru my belly from the left of my belly button down as far as they could go.Hope it is as easy for you as it was for me.My back never bothers me even laying under a truck on the side of the road at -4 degrees. After a year you probably won't notice any loss of mobility.
