what is the 3rd air line on the air compressor govenor?  one line goes to the wet tank, one goes to the air dryer...and the third mystery line.. all are 1/4 plastic...

thanks

It depends... It could go to the unloader on the air compressor if the gov is remotely mounted... It could go to supply the fan clutch solonoid.... I'd have to see what port of the gov it is attached to.

thanks geoff,  d2 is mounted on the compressor...

the fan control could be it.. the line goes in a big bundle and could turn in that direction...i'll have to trace it in the day light...

i had a lot of air leaks... found the wet tank rusted in the back.. had to have one made.. a trailer tank with 3 extra bungs welded on...

then  when spraying the fittings... found air coming through one of the braided hoses going to the d2... through the braid not the fitting... changed that to plastic, it went to the wet tank.. i changed the line to the dryer to plastic when we put a new dryer on..

i have the leak down to less than 1psi/min... i'd like to find a few more of the small leaks..  spraying soap is the only way , when you can't hear them...

thanks again

If it goes to the fan clutch it should be connected to a port in common with the wet tank. There are 3 ports that are all in common with the wet tank on the "bottom" of the the gov, the middle port  (between the mounting bolts if a D-2) is the unloader port and the  un-loader and air drier are connected to here,

I dont think that will be factory pumbed if it is to the fan clutch. Wet tank supply to the fan clutch means rust.

My 9670 was plumb'd that way.... It is a convenient place to get air on the engine, otherwise you have to run a seperate air line. The clutch solonoid has a filter ahead of it. Not saying all mfg use that method, but I have seen it. The same air is used for the air-gov and unloader without a filter and without a problem.... All air gov are connected to the wet tank. They aren't connected to the bottom, so the air will be what gets supplied to the other system tanks.

My W900 fan clutch runs off of the port on the governor.

With a air drier there should be no moisture in the wet tank anyway. On my mack it is the only tank that i have tryed to drain in a month and no water.
