Here is a neat truck from the '20's. Emblem removed. Photo from David McCombie.

I say Oldsmobile too, because it has some similarity to Don Chew's Oldsmobile in the hood and radiator.

My first impression of the round top radiator was Brockway. But after comparing it to my picture of a 1926 Brockway the windshield and roof line are different. A change between 1923 and 1926?

The grill appears more like an Ellsworth, but if the 1923 over the windshield is the year, Ellsworth stopped production in 1919.

Once again, majority rules. Kenny gets this one 1st. This is a very nice 1923 Oldsmobile express. These models were the 2nd time Oldsmobile got into the truck building business, and were manufactured from 1919 to 1924. These trucks used 40 hp Northway engines, the same engines used in Chevrolets at the time. Transmission was by Muncie. Perhaps the most famous Oldsmobile truck was driven by "The Beverly Hillbillies" of TV fame.

On most trucks with wooden cabs such as this one, the cabs were not installed at the factory but were locally built, making it nearly impossible to use the cab to id the truck. On the other hand, trucks with steel cabs generally had them installed at the factory, and the cabs were common to that make. However, often the steel cabs were built by a commercial body builder and the same cab could be found on several different makes of trucks, so even a steel cab is just a clue to a trucks identity, and not the whole story.

Thanks to David McCombie for the photo.
