I have collected a bunch of numbers from the rear axle ( off the end of the pinion shaft ) and from the 4 speed non-syncromesh trans. ( both casting and stamped numbers ) from my 1949 509 L Diamond T truck. My question is : now that I have the numbers , how do I go about finding what these numbers translate to ?? - Spicer,Clark,Timken & model #'s etc. - The Trans. & clutch assy. ( Lippe-Rollaway ) are originaly out of a 1938 406 D Diamond T.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 1954 Motors Truck Manual lists for the 1946-49 DT 509:

stock engine - Hercules JXB (L head six; 263 c.i.; 109 hp @ 3200)

stock transmission - Clarl 205V (five speed forward; direct in fifth)

stock rear axle -Timken H100 - single reduction; single speed

My 1946 Motors Truck Manual lists the components offered by the various manufacturers (ie 12-14 Brown-Lipe transmissions) but does not match them with truck year and model. If you have a transmission model number I may (or may not) be able to put some information against it.

The 4 speed trans is likely to be a Warner T9. What are the #'s on the pinion? Just divide for the ratio.

Progress may have been all right once, but it has gone on too long.
