The American Truck Historical Society has members with interest in many different areas of our trucking past. Please respect this diversity. All post must be suitable for family viewing. No profanity or nudity of any kind will be tolerated.

Politics are a big part of our trucking history and as such politics are sometimes appropriate. Please keep the politics on topic. If messages with political views that wander off topic or are considered offensive or inflammatory to others with different political views the message(s) will be deleted or edited.

Repeat offenders may be banned from the site.

We have a policy that you provide us with your name. It you'd like to use a handle for the messages thats fine, but please list you name and address in your profile. We'd like to know who you are. You can find help in in the help Forum.

All ads posted in areas other than the Classified Ads section will be moved to the classified section or deleted.

Everyone is welcome here and we insist
you conduct yourself in a responsible manner or you will be banned from the site. All post must be suitable for all ages. This is a family discussion board. Please do not post any messages that would offend anyone.

After you create your user account and login, go to the control panel and enter your information.

PHOTOS, It's important to be respectful of those who still have to use low speed Internet connections. Please limit any photos you make visible in a post to 150 Kb and no more than two per message. Please also be aware, photos that are made visible but linked from another site, like photobucket, are automatically copied and resized to fit this sites format. Some of us prefer to see better quality photos. If your pictures are larger than 150 KB, please feel free to post them as attachments. Feel free to attach as many files as you like. If you have a problem resizing a photo just ask, we'll be happy to help you.

Problems and Resolutions

If you have an issue with a message from another person, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE.

When this happens it's usually a message that was interpreted in a manner other than it was intended. Please remember when using this type of communications we miss out on the facial movements, the body language, the wink of an eye, that can completely change the meaning or interpretation of a message.

If you have a problem with a message please send a PM (Private Message) to one of the moderators or any ATHS Online Division member. You can also select the "Report" button from any message you have an issue with. Tell us what the issue is. We will contact you if we feel we need a better understanding of the issue.

1st offense will be a warning.

2nd offense will result in your message being edited.

3rd offense you will be banned from the site.

Enjoy and have fun!

First is the philosophy we used to create the site and what we were thinking.

Second is a section on the site layout and how it’s designed to work.

Third is section detailing how you can help with the new site.

WHY!

We came to the realization that we were not taking advantage of the potential the Internet has to offer. We wanted to promote the ATHS as “THE” authority on trucks and trucking history. We wanted to grow the Society by adding to its membership roles.

We have a faithful and growing group and we need to increase the numbers of people using the site. To achieve that goal it was decided that the site needed to be expanded to appeal to a larger group of individuals. We listened to everyone’s suggestions and tried to find a way to incorporate them in to a new site design.

We are a diverse group with many interest so we divided the site into different areas so you can find what YOU want. We don’t expect everyone to like everything on the site but we do expect them to find the items they want and have been asking for. Everything you see was designed to achieve the goals of promoting the ATHS as “THE” authority on truck and trucking history and growing our membership roles.

The server and software to run this site and its setup and configuration was donated to the ATHS by the ATHS Online Division. Our goal was to do this and eliminate the expenses the Society had been incurring to provide a discussion board.

How the site is designed to work.

You will find multiple areas and or Forums, Each of these Forums has its own rules posted please read and abide by them. Everything you see is subject to change. The site will be modified to achieve our goals as needed. The new Forums are

·         Road Kill Cafe & Coffee Shop , this is the general discussion forum just like sitting in a truck stop cafe talking among friends. Most messages will start out here, with three exceptions, Jeff’s What Am I, Franks Tech Tips and Johns Parts & Services.

·        What Am I , this is to test your abilities in identifying old trucks.

·        Tech Reference, this forum is for questions and answers of a technical nature. Any brochures or tech charts posted here may be put in the reference library for future references. We will be moving items of value from the Road Kill Café to this Forum so they can be placed in the Research Library.

·        Parts & Services, a most useful tool in caring for or restoring our historical treasures.

·        Suggestions If you have suggestions or ideas please post them in this Forum we want to hear from you. Remember this site was created for your suggestions.

·       In addition there is a section called Classifieds that has 7 sub-forums within it they are

1.    Trucks and Trailers ,

2.    Parts for Sale,

3.    Parts Wanted,

4.    Transportation Available and Wanted.

5. ATHS Members Parts for Sale

6.  ATHS Members Parts Wanted

7. ATHS Members Transportation Available and Wanted

ATHS Members can post free ads with these limitations;

No complete vehicles,

Nothing over $1,000.oo

All ads start out in Sub-Forums 5, 6 or 7. These three ads forums are only visible to ATHS Members who have asked for access to them. After one week they are moved to the sub-forums listed in 2, 3 or 4.

Non ATHS members can post an ad for the price of a new membership, included.

Complete vehicles and items over $1,000 are posted for a fee on the www.aths.org web site.

·       The Help page has been  added to aid in navigating the site.

·       The Chat  program is the same one we've been using. It allows you talk to one another by typing messages.

·        In the Research Library  there currently are close to 700 categories’ at this time, and is set up for over 2700. Already there has been around 3500 items uploaded. The photo sections allow you to post photos of your trucks much like the Photo Gallery we have used in the past. Any items you would like to be included in the reference areas should be posted in the Tech Reference Forum. From there they will be vetted, formatted and placed in the appropriate area by members of the ATHS Online Division

·       You aren’t going to believe this but, Is a place for your personal info, a blog, tell us about your truck, stories, etc..
