Here are some clips from the Great American Truck Race in 1980. I don't know why they aren't clickable but you can copy and paste them into your search bar.

| Here, there's road racing for trucks, and there have been a number of US trucks, particularly Whites (the yellow truck is well known in the UK) taking part through the years...

and the attachment [No idea what engines they're running (the "Komatsu" sign may mean just sponsorship from the dealer - could have a Cummins under the hood). Cheers T

| Larry----We raced big trucks at 4 local tracks in years gone by .......Dragway 42 back in 77 and 78,Thompson in around 79 or 80, Norwalk in about '82-84 ,and Quaker City 2001 and 2002 . Thompson's promoter called me at Great Lakes Diesel and asked us to co-promote ,so I got a little money out of GLD for trophys . I would go to Allison and get their factory demos and put my wife or 3 daughters in 'em on raceday . Invaribly they'd eventually break out or red light , but we always had a lot of family fun . I'd also get trucks from Valley Ford.....owners son would race new F150 pickups.....and from GMCs factory branch,[assuring the dealers we'd back up the warranty] , and let potential customers run 'em also . The one year at Thompson, we had DJs Carolyn Carr and Bill Wilkins from WHK Country radio in match races ,with Bill in an F 700 cab and chassis with 8.2 power...Carolyn in an L9000 with 6V92T and an East aluminum dump body . Naturally Carolyn got the win !

I tried it at another and they told me I had to run'r down the guardrail to avoid any chance of hurting the track surface.
Larry I'm no expert........but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
