What are the chances of this happening? The odds are probably astronomical to say the very least. As Paul Harvey would say here is the rest of the story. A few weeks ago when I attended the Yellow Rose chapter truck show I had the old sleeper strapped to the flat bed to have a place to sleep that night. Also strapped to the trailer was a step ladder to get up and down from the trailer. I had the step ladder tied down with two light duty rachet straps. The kind with a single J hook on each end. When I was getting ready to leave after the show, I was tieing my ladder down and had reached for the end of the tie down strap and jerked it toward me, as I did the J hook swing back and hit me in the upper lip, at which time I snatched it back rather forcefully away from my face. Unbeknown to me the J hook had hooked me in the right nostril. After a loud shout and a few nasty words I gently removed it from my nose. As I say, what are the chances of that happening to someone? It has never happened to me before and probably never will again. I would suspect that has never happened to anyone else on this board either. The chances are pretty remote. Chelle

Pretty lucky there I would say. I have managed to clobber myself over the years in number of odd ways. I consider myself pretty lucky not to have fallen off the tail of an SH-60 a few times. Climbing up to check the tail gearbox oil cap and chip detector in the dark with the ship rolling 10-15 deg and the wind blowing a good 30 mph. Being up there I was a good 12 feet up and if really unlucky you would miss the first deck and hit the missile deck another 10 feet down. Not something I would have walked away from. More then a couple times I have heard things fall off shelves only to bonk me on the head a moment later. I can't say I have hooked myself in the nose with a tie down strap before. :P

Back before everyone had roll tarps on grain trailers,a friend lost an eye when unhooking the rubber tarp straps to flip his tarp.Be glad you just hooked your nose.

never been hooked but had a couple of rubber strap hooks to rip out and hit me... one right in the forehead... buckled my knees... left a grown knot.. hadn't been hit that hard in a long time
everyday is a good day some just a little better than others

Michelle, I did have a person trying to help me tie a load down and threw a rachet belt over the trailer and hit me in the head. Now I tell people I'll do it my self. But on the other hand,a friend of mine and myself ran over you're cooler at Huntsville show. We may have broke the cooler,but we saved you're beer and put it under the reefer trailer next to you. Sorry.

We may have broke the cooler,but we saved you're beer and put it under the reefer trailer next to you. Sorry.So you were the culpert that ran over my high dollar styrofoam cooler. Your saving grace was the fact that you did so with out breaking a single bottle of beer. That was a feat in its self. We were at dinner when you ran over the cooler but made a quick recovery with an extra cooler we had as soon as we returned.
