I bet things was getting a little anxious inside the building with the gas leaking out of the gas tank. Looks like they were having trouble getting the door open to get the driver out.

Good eyes, Michelle. Also the top one had three cab lights and the bottom has two. What else? Glee

junkmandan (8/11/2010) Trying to visualize where this may have taken place indoors in Cleveland with the pillars in the background and perhaps bleachers set up for the spectators . Jan and I guessed it was in the Cleveland Public Auditorium .
I showed the pictures to the folks and they don't think it was at the Public Auditorium but maybe at the old Cleveland Arena.

I did notice that the truck that turned over did not have any morrors on it. The truck in the top photo has a mirror but the truck in the second did not have a mirror. I seem to remembet that some of those pictures were posted on the board some years back.

Yes, the film was converted to digital and it is on a CD and hard drive saved in the archives.

There is a 16m film of this event which I am almost 100% positive is on disc at ATHS hdqtrs. At the end of the show, they crashed a new 3000 into a wall of 300lbs ice blocks to show how strong it was --and they quickly covered the truck. I believe there was some concern about the safety of the driver --coes, were not all that popular at that time. Also, I think Roland Smith was at that event --it was for dealers, etc. I can't imagine a company doing that sort of thing in today's world!

Jeff, Looking at all the photos it looks like the truck wasn't the only thing "smashed". Good party. Thanks for the pictures.
