Hey all! Just a bit off topic - but more on equipment to use!

I use a JVC Everio S GZ-MS100AA Memory camcorder - used in Economy mode, it gives me just over 5 hours on a 4GB SDHC memory card!

Here are some videos I have done with it since May last year:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXpsIh_gMqI - my first video with the camera
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi1x7I0FDEk - Dad on his 1964 McCormick International A414 Diesel tractor Part 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhZdnnqyCYk - Dad on his 1964 McCormick International A414 Diesel tractor Part 2

Just a sample of what I have done with the camera - note that these were all taken with the camera in Economy mode and the quality is not the best!

Joe

Pretty neat video. It said it was made by the War Department (known now as the DOD), but I suspect it was the tire companys pushing it too.

Off truck topic but related to my video tech discussion
I tried my video camera in my Mustang yesterday vice my digital Panasonic used in the other video.  It had to mount it upside down to make it work with the mount - would only run about a minute before failing for some reason.  Ended up having my daughter holding the camera - a little shaky.  Different camera, same software, some of the same route.  Last time driving the car for a while so I had to get on it a little a couple times.  Blow the gunk out you know :)

Back to packing...

ON Edit if you go directly to Youtube and watch it there you can select a higher resolution 720HD and it looks much better.

We don't have cockroaches here but we do have the occasional beetle.  I didn't think my neighborhood was all the fancy - just sort of semi-rural with a bunch of older retired folk.  We passed on several houses here due to SSS - Severe Seventies Syndrome - ugly popcorn ceilings and entirely too much stuff to update and fix.  We bought at the right time.  If the market was normal I would have never afforded this house.  It is far from exceptional for this area we just bought at the right time.  In the Bay area a house like this would be over a million - up here they are a fraction of that.  I rented in San Diego because I couldn't afford anything down there.

Great video Kevin, your camera was not at all shaky. I am going to have to check out your Panavise mount for my truck videos.

I suppose someone is getting ready to post their convention videos..right?  On Monday I had an appointment at the glass shop to get my chrome locking strip installed.  (They hate the stuff BTW)  At any rate I got the truck out early and tried out my newer camera and a Panavise mount.  The little mount is a suction cup base with a couple of joints and an arm you and set to get the aim you want.  Less then $30 and seems to do a good job.  Now the video uploaded at a lower resolution then what I started with.  I used editing software I bought my daughter to merge several clips together.  My camera isn't anything all that special, not even a video camera actually.  Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3.  Has good sound and takes good photos and pretty good video.

Kevin, here's what I use: A Samsung S630, its 6.0 megapixels, and I turn it down to 1 megapixel for truck shows so that I can get more pictures on my card. The video borders on HD quality and the sound quality is excellent, it just isn't a fan of excessively loud things, as are most point and shoot cameras that make video that I've tried. I use a flexible leg tripod to hold the camera. It does good, but really picks up the vibrations coming through the seat on my Chevy, it does better on the International.

Here are some of the videos that I've made with it:
