Hello,

I am new to this forum and have a question about the Vickers style steering.

A little history, we had a 1974 KW come in with slop in the steering, We found a used Vickers unit, changed it, and the steering was better. But over the last couple months of use the steering has become worse now than the original unit. I have a parts breakdown on the unit, but have been told parts are no longer avail.

Does anyone have the adjustment specs for these? Or worse case a sourse for a conversion kit to a Ross style gearbox?

Many thanks,

Ralph

By Vickers,do you mean the power assist ram under the drivers seat? This is what I have in my 71 KW. Used a lot by loggers around here in BC. Could be the ball and socket joint where the radius arm comes down from the box is worn out. I have a parts source. Apparently, there were 3 different styles, as I found out doing mine. The ram itself can be redone by any hydraulic rebuilder shop,
