Thanx RokWiz
We need short WB to make the beast user friendly
the shorter the WB the smaller turning circle & more manuverability
but we still need to run up n over curbs and roundabouts also negotiate low tree branches & wires
make n pickups n dropoffs in the Melbourne suburbs can B a nightmare
they should make the roads to suit trucks n let cars use m ....... instead the other way round

Clik here for a typical Melbourne roundabout .............. we do have worse than th@

Swishy, Nice work.

I guess the yanks will want to know why you are shortening the KW rather than stretching it which they seem to like doing to everything.

There were a few years just before the silvers came out when the turbo engines had trunk style pistons with 1 1/2" wrist pins, rather than the standard 1 3/8" wrist pins. These are what I have.
Now, I have one parts guy saying my serial number isn't "in the system", another has quoted what appears to be a crosshead kit, ($500 more than a non-turbo kit) and a big silence from a couple other sources.

Update; Local brick and mortar parts house and automotive machine shop found my parts! Cheaper than any of the parts sellers on Ebay. Will have to wait 2 weeks for 1 wrist pin, but it will take that long to clean all the crud off the castings. (My parts guy suggested that if I wanted to keep my engine clean and green, I should leave the oil in the jugs it came in) :D

Went over mine the other day to check for stuck rack / injectors, as well barring it over as it hasn't been started in 2 years.

I thought the earlier ones had the same pistons or is yours a silver.

Found a used head for it today, all the cam followers, rockers, injectors, everything for $250. Even if I have to go through it, that seems reasonable to me. Still checking prices on an inframe kit, people seem confused about what pistons I should have.

Absolutely it would still run! I drove it a good 30 miles after the carnage happened, If I'd have shut down right away, I would only have to fix one hole, but towing and storage would have eaten up the whole value of the truck. (I was 500 miles from home when it happened)
Crank and block are fine, so one head and 6 cylinder kits will get me back on the road. Can't do that with a baby Cummins.
here's where mine will end up. Only chickies around here are too old to be climbing up on trucks!
