If you do not find one you could have one made. Either by an artist/sign painter or a company that makes computer generated decals.
Red Ball decals were available for a model truck at one time. A die cast truck and trailer like that should be available if a model truck like that would work as a gift. That may take some time though. |

My Grandfather worked for Red Ball for nearly his entire career. The story I have been told was that he drove the last truck on the lsat route before the company closed. He passed many years ago, along with all of my Mom's extended family. She is now quite ill herself. Her birthday is coming up. My Dad and I are trying to find her something to lift her spirits. Her favorite childhood photo centers around a memory with her father, Perk Hudson. I am attaching that photo to this message. My Dad and I are hoping to find a metal sign with the name and logo on it like the one on the side of the truck. If you have any information for me on where I might find such an item I would GREATLY appreciate your assistance. Also, if you happen to know him I would love to hear some stories. |

I drove fro Red Ball from 1977-80 as line haul driver. I was bottom seniority kept getting laid off so I quit for a carhaul job with Auto Convoy Co. About the time I left, they had already merged with Spector & they had really stupid plans for an "under the cab" truck. Myself & every other driver were freaked out about being so close to the ground in a big rig. Way to dangerous and stupid. No wonder they went out of business.

As I recall, a Red Ball desigination was used for military convoys during WWII. They were not to be stopped or delayed for any reason and always had the right of way.

I love Bill White's photo. In 1940 my dad's business was about the same, 2 semis, one straight moving van and a rack side straight truck. ( I do realize Red Ball was larger than these 4). Thanks. Bill. Glee
