I'm with the DOVER boys.  The U.S. Government was one of Hudsons's best customers for these trucks.

My first impression was Ford so I guess I will have to be proven not quite right. Surely will happen, Wayne

While the majority of the U.S. Mail trucks around 1930 were Fords, this one is not. Jack Amaral is correct, this is a 1929 Dover, built by Hudson's more affordable Essex brand. Dover trucks were built from 1929 to 1930 and shared many components with the Essex automobiles. The radiator on the Dover trucks was unique, however. By 1931 the Dover trucks were re-named Essex, and in 1933 the Essex brand became Terraplane. Thanks to Jesse Walter for the mail truck photos, which is part of the Hostetler Husdson collection.

David, where was that Ford emblem I missed LOL ?

I wasn't able to blow the pic up until now, down near the crank hole I could have sworn there was the Ford V8 emblem. My mistake.
