Semaphores seemed to be more common on trucks in California. Was there a state law back then that was the reason for that?

In Germany in Army in '59 bought a '53 Opel 4-dr sedan.....it had semiphore turn signals the were built into the pillar between the doors.  We alled them mox-nix sticks...nox-nix = make no difference ....their use was very optinal and often the driver did the opposite of his/her signal anyway  ...LOL   Just like here in the States ...course here most signal what they just did, not what they are about to do.!

I sold this truck to a gold miner in Western Australia.I think he bought it because he liked the turn signal as no one seems interested in buying Federal trucks.

My wife says that I am not completely worthless and can always serve as a bad example.

Two of my toy trucks have semaphores and I used to drive a 48 Dodge flatbed dump with a semaphore.

Side trip;

Seen on the back of a trailer,

Wide right turn...  but

The picture was of a plus size women, riding a small tricycle, in a bikinie,  hold her arm up signaling a right turn....

It could have said Wide load too....  lol

I hope I explained it well enough ... but not get deleted!!!!
