Realize this is mere miles from the bridge on I-5 that another oversize load took out last summer. There is a lot of extra scrutiny in the area these days. He picked a bad spot to try and go inland or dodge scales or something.

offhand, i'd say the trucker was lucky to get away without going to jail. tying up traffic for 12 hrs is bad enough. even though he did not bust through the bridge, it would be a very good idea to send the bridge inspectors out there to check it out. for every action, there's a reaction, and that bridge responded in some way to that load.

Listening to Dave Nemo of Sirius this am --he was talking about some guy who broke down (didn't hear where) grossing 246,000 and they couldn't find a wrecker big enough to remove him for some time. Looks to me as if any one of the O'koshes could have done it. AND, the guy was fined $40,000 for being overweight --well, it seems he had OK permits, but not for the road he was on!

Life  is like a roll of toilet paper the closer  you get to the end, the faster it goes!  Enjoy each day.

Hi guys, Here's some Aussie Oshkosh trucks I've seen around and thought you might like seeing. The yellow one's local to me and still working pulling livestock.

thanks. i've been there, and am waiting for them to send me some pictures. in the meantime, i discovered that the truck in montana is really a wa-2206. see attached pic. the 51fmv designation is something i would guess that the highway department hung on the vehicle, meaning 51FM(otor)V(ehicle) and has no meaning in the Oshkosh scheme. it's a big truck, and i would imagine the issue to be availability and cost of parts, although it's low-mileage and supposedly well maintained.

appreciate the advice.
